Ann Lehman- CCP Level 1 Coach
I started coaching at CrossFit Nittany in 2012. Prior to that, I had little to no experience coaching adults in exercise. I did coach adults all day long at my prior management day job though.
I selected OPEX for my professional coaching education because CrossFit Nittany’s owner, Bryan St. Andrews, is on his Level 1 journey and recommended I begin taking the courses in preparation for joining the CrossFit Nittany team full time some time in 2015.
I was about to make a complete career change from a management position in higher education fundraising to full time work as a coach/trainer and managing our sales/marketing, so I hoped I’d gain a strong foundation to hit the ground running in the fitness industry…I have gained more than that from the CCP.
I went into the program wide-eyes and some what nervous as my previous profession was outside of fitness. Well, this was all new content for me so I was excited for what I’d learn in each one, but nutrition was probably the one I was most curious about starting.
The course that most surprised me was Program design. The content blew my mind. I get to use what I learned every day now and it’s fun for me as a coach… and it’s working.
Since starting the journey, I became a Level 1 Associate Coach in February 2016! One of my proudest days. My future goals are to continue refining my assessment process with new clients and continue to work with clients 1:1 as well as in a group setting to grow my knowledge and experience of program design. I think this will be a continuous goal for me over my tenure in this industry.

I can’t begin to imagine where I’d be right now without CCP. As I mentioned above, I made a complete career change with very little experience in the fitness industry. I felt like I was going back to school to get a new degree to prepare me for my future. Fortunately, I was able to complete all of the course work before starting at CrossFit Nittany full time, so I was ready to put it into action as soon as I started. I know I have all the tools I need at my fingertips from my CCP learnings and resources.
From this process, I learned that you are never too old to change your life. I’ll be 41 in May 2016.
