Masculine Communication Style
The masculine communication style is goal oriented and because of this client with this style do not focus on the journey to the goal. This stems from our history of being hunters and gatherers where men were focused only on making the kill and bringing home food. To recognize the masculine communication style a coach should look for a client that is goal oriented. There are more traits that define a masculine communicator but this is a common tell. If your client is masculine learn how to use the process of goal setting to your advantage here.
Feminine Communication Style
This style is relationship and fulfillment oriented, these communicators tend to lose sight of the end goal. The relationship and fulfillment orientation are derived from taking care of the community, historically. A coach can recognize these communicators as they will be more focused on the experience and the journey than the end goal itself. To work well with these clients, a coach must establish trust and build a relationship. Learn how to build that trust with this method.
