The new year is officially here to stay, and it’s time to shift from creating goals to achieving goals. Most goals fall short because they are not prioritized. So, in order to reach your coaching goals this year, you must make them a priority.
In this post, we’re going to cover three steps pulled directly from the OPEX Coaching Certificate Program (CCP). These three steps will determine if your priorities are aligned with your coaching goals. You can also use this exercise with your client’s to determine their priorities.
Ask yourself these seven questions. Write down three answers to each question in order of their relevance.
Now that you have answered the questions you should have 21 answers. Go through and tally up the number of times each unique answer appears.
After tallying up your scores look at the three answers that occurred the most. Put the answers that occurred the most in order from the most occurring to least. These are your priorities.
Now compare your goals to your priorities, if they do not align it’s time to adjust accordingly or realize the goal isn’t a priority and that’s fine.
Hopefully, this exercise gave you some clarity on prioritizing your goals. If one of your goals this year is to further your coaching education the OPEX Coaching Certificate Program (CCP) is for you. This exercise is based on a method of understanding client priorities we teach in CCP. After learning the importance of priorities and how they relate to the coach-client relationship we have CCP Coaches post their own answers in our forum. This forum is an online resource exclusively available to CCP Coaches and offers collaborative concept exploration within the OPEX community.
