What Is a Coaching Professional?

Ten Minutes of Fitness Conversation with OPEX Fitness Founder James FitzGerald

“If you think about true mastery, the professional has to create mastery in whatever they are doing because they will eventually make the entire system work better. And those who don’t work on mastery of that specific profession, i.e. they cloud it and call themselves professionals but actually don’t work on it all the time to get better it, they cloud the whole system.”

OPEX Founder James FitzGerald sits down with Michael Pilhofer to discuss what it takes to be a fitness professional. In this day and age, there doesn’t seem to be a quality control as to who is and who can become a coach. One of the reasons is that fitness has shifted into popular culture which has enabled celebrities to have a much larger impact on fitness trends than actual fitness professionals. It seems that everyone is allowed to have an “expert” opinion because fitness is a pop culture subject now.

James FitzGerald and Michael Pilhofer discuss the problem and what can be done to fix it in the above video.
