WHY HIGH INTENSITY ISN’T FOR THE MASSES
Why high intensity isn’t for the masses, how to change the mindset around nutrition, and life questions with James FitzGerald
James FitzGerald recently sat down the Barbell Shrugged Podcast to discuss why high intensity isn’t for the masses, how to change people’s mindset around nutrition, and deeper life questions. You can listen to the podcast here.
First, FitzGerald dives into why the high-intensity model isn’t for the masses. “If a client’s goal is to truly live a healthy life, climb mountains until they are 90, have sex in the morning, and live pain-free the answer is resistance training and easy aerobic work, not high intensity,” says FitzGerald. But, instead of preaching that truth, the fitness industry sells the sexy high-intensity model.
Later, the podcast covers how to change a client’s mindset around nutrition and why intention is king. Before giving a client macros FitzGerald believes that a client must start with basic lifestyle changes called the OPEX Basic Lifestyle Guidelines (BLGs) learn the BLGs for yourself in this free course. The lifestyle guidelines are based in the OPEX System of Coaching where FitzGerald believes that goals are reached through the alignment of intent and action.
The podcast concludes by diving into the deeper questions of life, thoughts on death and, the importance of love, getting unplugged, and losing identity. As a natural born coach FitzGerald has created the OPEX Coaching Certificate Program (CCP) to teach his system of coaching discussed in this podcast to the public.
